HISTORY OF GRECIA & SHOPPING AT SARCHI
Your journey continues to the town of Sarchi. Experience handcrafted colorful oxcarts. These carts were used by previous generations for the transportation of local crops and materials. The oxcart factory was an important production center for Costa Rican farmers, coffee plantations and cattle settlers. This quiet picturesque town of Sarchi offers many artisans that produce quality hand crafted souvenirs some say the best in Costa Rica. Local artesian welcome you to visit their shops that contain many hand carved figures; bowls and jewelry boxes in an array of exotic woods. Fine furniture, jewelry, paintings and much more are also available. A variety of typical oxcarts in many different sizes are conveniently packaged for easy transporting with minimum assembly. Lunch includes many traditional Costa Rican dishes. The restaurant is known for its appealing atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent cuisine. THE RAIN FOREST AERIAL TRAM PACIFIC TOUR
The scenic roads of the of Costa Rica's Pacific side were created to raise world awareness as to the importance of the tropical forest. Costa Rica's New Rain Forest Aerial Tram - Pacific allow visitors to discover the hidden secrets and hanging gardens of the Tropical Forest from a very different perspective. The Aerial Tram offers one of the most interesting and exuberant ways of seeing the forest, small waterfalls and scenic views of the Pacific Coast, which you will enjoy during your 4 hour Tram ride. Most of the reserve is covered with primary forest on a steep slope, home to massive trees laden with vines and epiphytes. These royal giants may reach 150 feet tall and are 200 years old or more. Ferns, palms and other underbrush thrive in the lower areas of the forest, where a rippling creek keeps the soil moist year round. You will be able to see white faced monkeys, spectacled owls, toucans, agoutis (a neo-tropical rodent with long hind legs), and amphibians and reptiles including several species of frogs and fer-de-lance vipers. Spectacular Scarlet Macaws may soar over you as you ride the Tram. This area is only one of, two spots in Costa Rica where you can see these beautiful red, blue and gold birds, who migrates daily from neighboring Carara National Park to roost in mangroves at the mouth of the Tarcoles River. It has a circular hot-water lake at the bottom, 350 meters in diameter, and a cinder cone 40 meters high with very active fumaroles. The second crater is the seat of a cold-water lake, Botos, which clearly originates from rainfall and drains into the Caribbean by means of the Angel River, a tributary of the Sarapiquí River.
