Sixt Car Rental Insurance

General Insurance Conditions:
Customer must be aware of all clauses stated in the rental agreement signed with Sixt. All insurances and protections cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver’s license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
In case of an accident you must follow these instructions to apply for the selected protection:
- Call first SIXT rent a car, report the accident and follow the instructions of our representative. Emergency Pager 225-4049, code SIXT.
- Call 911 to report the incident to the authorities: Traffic officers and the National Insurance Institute (INS) for accidents or the OIJ for theft. (911 Emergency Line provide a bilingual service – English / Spanish). When is appropriate fulfill all accident and official reports. <
- Under no circumstances can the vehicle be moved prior to the arrival of the proper authorities and until the traffic inspector (police) authorizes to do so.
LDW - Loss Damage Waiver
This protection covers the rented vehicle for damages caused by an accident, total car theft and also has a basic coverage on third parties and properties. The customer is only responsible for car damages and theft for the specific car class deductible.
The LDW protection is mandatory, but can be declined with a valid credit card auto rental collision insurance program. If LDW is declined the renter must take the SLI insurance (Supplementary Liability Insurance).
LDW do not cover any partial robbery, lost or damage car accessories and personal belongings.

SLI - Supplementary Liability Insurance
The Supplementary Liability Insurance removes customer liability to third parties and properties resulting from an auto accident. It has a deductible of US$300 or 20% of third parties and properties total damages.
SLI can be declined but then the renter is completely responsible for all third party and property damages caused by an auto accident. As stated above, SLI insurance is mandatory when LDW protection is declined.
The maximum coverage of the SLI insurance is: US$100,000 (one hundred thousand) per person and up to US$200,000 (two hundred thousand) per event or accident for third party liability. A maximum amount of US$40,000 (forty thousand) coverage applies for third properties.

SLDW - Super Loss Damage Waiver
EIs an optional and additional coverage that removes customer from all liability for paying any LDW deductibles in a car accident, theft or total car loss, excepting the cases cause by driver negligence.
The SLDW has to be purchased over LDW and SLI coverage plans. Also it is not applicable on rings or tires and personal belongings. Coverage applies only for rentals of more than five (5) days. SIXT rent a car reserves the right to stop selling this product at any time, without any previous advice.

VAC - Vandalism and Accesories Coverage
Another optional plan that covers vandalism and damaged accessories of rented vehicle. Waives customer responsibility on damage tires, wheels and hubs, broken or damaged windshields or windows, radios and CD players (police report required), door locks, broken antennas. Restrictions apply. Only available for rentals of 5 or more days.

Negligence - Definitions:
- Driving when drinking or under the influence of drugs.
- If carrying any type of illegal drugs in the automobile.
- When not obey traffic laws and respect pre-determined speed limits.
- Coverage does not apply if crossing through rivers, inlets, on the beach or in contact with salt water.
- Not following factory car specifications, maintenance and load factors.
- Protection does not apply to intentional or fraudulent damage.
- When vehicle is impounded by police, or if used for illegal activities.
- If not observe and comply with all clauses of rental agreement.
