Guanacaste

This wetland, surrounded by the Hacienda Solimar, protects an important nesting colony of water birds among which wood stork (Mycteria americana), great egret (Casmerodius albus) and white ibis (Eudocimus albus) stand out in terms of sheer numbers. In this lagoon there is also a large population of crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus). There is a grit track to the Hacienda and then there are two kilometers on foot.
