Playa Avellana's 2 km rocky and sandy coast is bathed by strong waves, adequate for surfers. Around 8 different surf breaks and beach breaks with rocky points. Playa Avellana is located 5 kms to the north of Playa Negra. There are two different ways to access: From Villa Real, or from Santa Cuz. Its location is north of Playa Junquillal.
