View from inside the kitchen looking south east over the stream. The roof support posts are of llallo (pronounced "yayo") a gnarled and very decorative local hardwood. The wood and leather rockers are a Tico specialty - very comfortable to sit in & watch the magnificent tiger herons that nest on the property,as they hunt for "tajalines"; little purple & orange crabs that live in the ground cover round the house.

Below, another view from inside the kitchen, looking east toward the ocean, through the 40’x 8’ patio that wraps round the kitchen. The main roof beams are made of "almendro" (almond wood) that's too hard to nail, but must be drilled and bolted. Underneath the patio is another 100+ sq. ft. of lockable storage - ideal for surf boards, etc.
