The Canadian
cabinetmaker who built all the furniture and doors in the house, including
this wonderful wardrobe, still lives right behind the property. He’ll
build more if you ask him - it’s what he loves to do!
This view shows the light, airy kitchen (100 sq. ft.) with four burner cooker, microwave. refrigerator and stainless steel sink. The plentiful kitchen cabinets were custom built and installed by the same Canadian cabinet maker, and made from "pochote" or "spiny cedar", a local hardwood similar to redwood. The floor and counter-top tiles were specially made in San Jose from concrete. On the far left is the door to the office (and small bedroom)
This picture shows the teak split-pole ladder leading to the 180 sq. ft. loft over the kitchen, useful for storage or as an extra bedroom for those unexpected visitors.
