Tambor Villageand the Bay of Tambor |

What's a Tambor?! In Spanish, "tambor" means "drum", and the town of Tambor is named after the large, drum shaped bay upon which it sits. Around the bay are a number of small villages, but the main "town" is Tambor - a quiet tourist attraction with a moulle - jetty and fisheman's village. Because of the quiet waters of the bay, it is a safe place for families with children. Although many travel agents now associate Tambor Bay with the 400 room Barceló resort located on a portion of the east side, the charm of old Costa Rica is still present in the small villages, like Tambor, that dot the perimeter.
