It contains a moist tropical late secondary forest with trees such as the spiny cedar (Bombacopsis quinatum), the wild plum (Spondias mombin) and the espave (Anacardium excelsum) and serves as habitat for, among other animals, howler monkeys (Alouatta palliata), white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and margay (Leopardus wiedii). The edge of the reserve can be reached by walking 2 km along the beach from Montezuma. This protected area is dedicated to the memory of the great conservationist Nicholas Wessberg who was of Swedish origin. It is not open to the public.
