Heredia

It is made up of a group of eight small lagoons that have conserved their biodiversity undisturbed. It is also one of the few habitats that provide protection for West Indian manatees (Trichechus manatus), a highly threatened species throughout Central America. The best way to visit some of these lagoons is by boat along the Tamborcito Channel, which flows into the San Juan river.
