These beautiful mountain sites can be reached from Sarchí Sur, in the Central Western Valley, via the road between La Luisa - Los Angeles - Bajos del Toro, which is 24 kms.
Bajos del Toro Amarillo is a very damp and rainy valley located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, between the flanks of Poás Volcano to the east and the foothills of Viejo Volcano (2,122 metres) to the west. It is a region of clear mountain streams, waterfalls and pools, future hydroelectric projects, and grasslands and forests.
Sites of special interest include: the River Claro; the River Segundo, a natural spa; the River Quebrada Gata with waterfalls and water the colour of the sky; the River Agrio, which is used by the local people to treat eye problems, muscular pains and digestive disorders; and the River Toro Amarillo, the main collector, which plunges down an impressive waterfall in the strech between Bajos del Toro and Colonia.
