CENTRAL VALLEY RETIREMENT TOUR - 5 days / 4 nights Our most popular tour, and where most people choose to retire! Two thirds of the Costa Rican population lives in the Central Valley, three hours away from either ocean because of its year round spring-like temperatures, excellent infrastructure including major shopping malls, and every imaginable activity to stay busy. Come and see why thousands of foreigners live here, tour around our exclusive amazing private homes and the best priced condos with American style comforts surrounded by our beautiful Central Valley mountains and year green tropical vegetation. DAY ONE Arrive in San Jose. We will greet you at the airport and transport you to your hotel in San Jose. Orientation in the evening. Lodging at Corteza Amarilla Art Lodge & Spa (or similar) a unique type of architecture mixing Art Noveau, Deco, Barroque and some oriental influence in a tropical atmosphere. A perfectly well designed combination of city and hacienda. The cuisine! Great food with different flavors of fusion cuisine. Free internet service and computer for your personal use in the Business Center. DAY TWO – Escazu – Santa Ana – Ciudad Colon - Puriscal 8:00am start with our touring in the Western area of San Jose that comprises the areas of Escazu, Santa Ana, Ciudad Colon and Puriscal. On our way will be explain all the infrastructure (hospital, a mall complex, U.S. Embassy, banks, golf and country clubs etc.). This area offers many condominiums and gated community residential projects, great views of the city and American oriented services, especially at the Escazu and Santa Ana locations. After lunch, at a local restaurant, we will start leaving the cities and entering more rural areas, starting in Ciudad Colon and ending at Puriscal, popular for its proximity to the city and good land prices for farm living. Return to our hotel in the evening to enjoy the wonderful spa or just rest. DAY THREE – La Guacima - La Garita - Atenas 8:00am check out and departure towards the Northwestern area of San Jose and Alajuela. We will start with La Guacima, visiting Ciudad Hacienda Los Reyes, the best country club of the area with big lots, golf course and lots of open space and other residential areas. We will continue moving towards the province of Alajuela (close to the international airport), and visit the popular area of La Garita, with a perfectly wonderful year round climate and gorgeous "quintas", the one acre vacation homes of Costa Ricans and foreigners alike. Afterwards, we will start down the winding road leaving the central valley towards the Central Pacific beaches to check properties with both ocean and mountains views at the same time!. Lunch and visit in the town of Atenas, the favorite retirement area, and you will see for yourself why. A wonderful experience awaits you at Vista Atenas B & B, on the lush rolling countryside, with sweeping valley vistas. Time to rest and enjoy the grace and serenity of Vista Atenas. DAY FOUR – Grecia – Naranjo – Handicraft town of Sarchi 8:00am start leaving Atenas towards the town of Palmares by the backroad to continue by the Inter American highway towards Naranjo, where we will leave the highway again after visiting a new and beautiful residential area, to Sarchi, the Costa Rican handicraft center, to see how the wood oxcarts are painted and buy souvenirs. Lunch at Sarchi and continue towards Grecia, to visit its renowned church. A wonderful area with sugar cane and coffee plantations with the background of the Poas Volcano.
