Day 02 - Poas Volcano – La Paz Waterfalls Gardens On this combination tour you will experience in one day at a no rush pace what is considered the most recommended tour in Costa Rica. We begin our journey driving by the city of Alajuela is proud to display the monument of our National Hero "Juan Santamaria". We now begin our assent to the national park where we soon will relax and enjoy an authentic cup of Costa Rican coffee accompanied by a delicious tropical breakfast. You will feel a change in temperature and the lush vegetation becomes apparent, preparing us for the pleasures of the exuberant cloud forest of the Poás Volcano. On a clear day the view of the main crater is admired by all visitors, its diameter is considered one of the widest in the world. As we continue towards the Caribbean zone, we will stop to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a Nature Park where we will walk on the truly spectacular trails that will lead us to Magia Blanca Falls (the largest and the most spectacular of the falls in the area). At the Park you will also witness the largest enclosed butterfly observatory in the world with a beautiful collection of tropical jewels. Includes: Transportation, entrance fee, lunch & guide. Day 03 - San Jose - Arenal A representative of Costa Rican Trails will pick you up at the hotel and you will be provided with a private transfer to the Arenal area. Free afternoon to relax at the hotel. Enjoy of the magnificent volcano view that your hotel offers you while relaxing at the swimming pool or the outdoor Jacuzzi. Approx. driving time: 3.5 hours Arenal One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica. Overnight at Arenal Volcano Inn, 01 Quad. Deluxe room, breakfast included. Day 04 Arenal 4 in 1 (Hanging Bridges or Safari Floating + Waterfall by car + Arenal Hike + Hot Springs) For the first activity, the visitor has a choice between two activities: the Hanging Bridges and the Safari Floating tour. Then, on to La Fortuna Waterfall by car. The waterfall is about 70 m. high, and there is just a 600 m walk to get there. After that, lunch is served in La Fortuna. At around 15:00, on to the Arenal National Park, where the guide will explain about the natural and geological history of the area. Last, a relaxing bath at the Hot Springs, and a delicious dinner. Day 05 (Arenal - Monteverde) This morning service, half way by minivan, half way by boat, is an scenic ride through the Arenal Lake to Monteverde Cloudforest area. Approx. duration: 3.5 hours. Arenal Lake is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is also a place where you can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Sometimes mammals can be seen in the surroundings, also great views of the Arenal Volcano when it's clear. Once at Río Chiquito, we'll leave the boat and make a short break to strength the legs, after, another 1 1 / 2 hour microbus ride to get to the hotels in the Monteverde area. Includes: microbus & boat transportation and snack at the boat. Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. This high elevation rain forest offers miles of trails with excellent opportunities for bird watching. The resplendent Quetzal is often sighted up here (mostly January to July). It is for this reason that more visitors are attracted to this private reserve than to any other in Costa Rica. Overnight at Sapo Dorado Hotel, 01 Quad. Sunset / Mountain room., breakfast included Day 06th (Walkways, Insect Museum and hummingbird Garden tour). These Tree Top Walkways are the best system of suspension bridges that exist in Costa Rica. The bridge system is located along a 1 .7 mile trail designed to be walked by people of all ages and consists of 8 suspension bridges going 90% through primary cloud forest. In the Insect Museum, you can observe more than 50 species of butterflies from different altitudes and climates on a guided tour. In the Hummingbird Garden the visitor can observe more than 14 species of hummingbirds surrounded by waterfalls and natural floral arrangements. Sunset / Mountain room., breakfast included Day 07 (Monteverde- Manuel Antonio) After breakfast, a representative of Costa Rican Trails will provide you a private transfer to the Manuel Antonio Area. Approximate driving time: 4.5 hours. Manuel Antonio Considered to be Costa Rica's most beautiful, Manuel Antonio Park has enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and tropical rainforest forest alive with wildlife. Watch for the monkeys and iguanas who share the park with you. Most hotels are small and intimate, set high on a hill overlooking the rain forest, endless beaches and the national park. Options abound here! Whether you are looking for a romantic honeymoon hideaway or an action-packed visit, this premier destination has the answer. Glide through crystal clear, aqua blue pacific waters, marvel at the unspoiled beaches of Manuel Antonio, explore the mysterious islands that lie just offshore our coast. After enjoying the tranquility of sailing these pristine waters, our Catamaran glides into a beautiful, protected bay so you can swim under the protected cover of our tropical jungle.
