Day 1 : Arrival - San José

Arrive to Juan Santamaría International Airport. One of our representatives will meet you at the airport baggage area and assist you through customs. We will then provide transfer to your hotel in San José for your first night in Costa Rica.

Day 2 : Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour

After breakfast we will pick you up for the Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour
In this route you will pass coffee plantations, fern and flower and strawberry farms. You will experience an obvious change in the temperature and in the vegetation during your ascend to the exuberant cloud forest of Poás Volcano. At the Volcano you will have time to observe the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Then we will hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon that will allow us to learn about the different ecosystems in the park. Continue the trip to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a natural park with hiking trails to 5 different waterfalls, butterfly observatory, Serpentarium, Ranarium and Hummingbird area. Then you will be set off for a delicious lunch buffet and then begin the return trip to San Jose.

Day 3 : San Jose - Tortuguero

We begin the trip early in the morning between 6:00 am to 7:00 am from San Jose. You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an A/C bus. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way we will stop for breakfast at Selva Tropical Restaurant and then we will continue our trip to Caño Blanco deck driving by banana plantations.
At Caño Blanco, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge the staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch -the visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town. You will return to the lodge and enjoy free time to enjoy the pool and other amenities and prepare for dinner.

Day 4 : Tortuguero

Optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Then another boat tour to admire the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach. Then you have another optional tour to the canals or stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or simply enjoy the pool. Have dinner at the lodge

Day 5 : Tortuguero - Arenal

After breakfast we will begin our trip back to Caño Blanco. The boat will arrive around 11:00 a.m. then continue by bus to Selva Tropical Restaurant for lunch. After lunch, a car rental representative will deliver a Grand Vitara 4x4 manual for you to drive to the Arenal area. Duration 3 hours approximately
One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica.

Day 6 : Arenal 4 in 1 tour (Safari Float + Waterfall by car + Arenal Hike + Hot Springs)

For the first activity the Safari Floating tour, then, La Fortuna Waterfall which is about 70 mts. high. After this, lunch is served in La Fortuna. At around 3:00 p.m. the guide will take you to the Arenal Volcano national park for a hike and explain about the natural and geological history of the area. Last, a relaxing bath at the Hot Springs, and a delicious buffet style dinner.

Day 7 : Arenal - Monteverde

Morning drive to Monteverde Cloud Forest. Duration 3 1/2 hours approximately
Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. Its cloud forest reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. This high elevation rain forest offers miles of trails with excellent opportunities for bird watching.
Afternoon Walkways, Insect Museum and Hummingbird Garden tour
These Tree Top Walkways are the best system of suspension bridges that exist in Costa Rica. The bridge system is located along a 1 .7 mile trail designed to be walked by people of all ages and consists of 8 suspension bridges going 90% through primary cloud forest. In the Insect Museum, you can observe more than 50 species of butterflies from different altitudes and climates on a guided tour. In the Hummingbird Garden the visitor can observe more than 14 species of hummingbirds surrounded by waterfalls and natural floral arrangements.

Day 8 : Sendero Tranquilo Tour

Around 07:00 a.m. you will meet your guide at the lobby and transportation will be provided to the Tranquilo Trail location, a private property which borders the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve and specializes in personalized guided tours to learn about the cloud forest, away from other crowded areas. The tour includes a 3-hour easy hiking on natural trails and private tour guide. You need to bring hiking boots or tennis shoes, light raincoat and comfortable clothing, camera and a bottle of water.

Day 9 : Monteverde - Tamarindo

Drive with your family to Tamarindo beach in Guanacaste. Duration 4 1/2 hours
Both nature and beach lovers will find plenty here to fill their days. Tamarindo is famous for its stunning beaches, its marine national park and wildlife refuge. This area encompasses beaches that attract one of the largest leatherback turtle populations in the world. Peak nesting seasons in the area are October through March. Due to its constant waves, it is also one of the favorite places for surfers.

Day 10-12 : Relax

Relax on the beach or take an ATV tour, go horseback riding, surfing or visit a National Park. There are many options in this area for your family.

Day 13 : Tamarindo - San José

Drive back to San Jose. Duration 4 1/2 hours approximately
