Activities - Ocean Adventure   Treasure Hunt

OK, friends and family members of SCUBA divers...you like the water, who wouldn't in Costa Rica, and you want to look around under the ocean, but you don't like to SCUBA. Well, Cano Divers has the right under water activity for you. Remember when you were a child and went on treasure hunts in your back garden or the local woods?

Maybe your parents hid some candy under the roses to make it more interesting. Well, most of us are not kids anymore but we still like to find new and exciting things.

Here's you special water tour!

After breakfast we will set out on the Pacific seeking our fortune.

Just as terrestrial Costa Rica has one of the most diverse gatherings of plants, birds and butterflies in the world, the ocean near Drake Bay is filled with abundant and varied marine species. Isla del Caño is a marine sanctuary and home to many of the same fish that live in the Galapagos Islands. The waters offshore (known as the Costa Rican Thermal Convection Dome if you really want to know) teem with dolphins, migrating whales (for several months each year), mantas, sea turtles and many more animals.

We make no promises that you will be able to swim with the dolphins and the whales. This is not Sea World. However, we nearly always encounter fascinating creatures and our guests have entered the water with humpback whales and dolphins. For this reason everyone is issued full snorkeling equipment.

For lunch we will land on a lovely white sand beach for a real picnic followed by an hour or two of snorkeling. Here you will have encounters with lovely reef fish in calm waters. As you stroll on the beach you will normally see a number of scarlet macaws.

We will return to Pirate Cove later in the afternoon and we hope you will have been enriched by your ocean adventure.
