Costa Rican Discovery
Arrive by air into San Jose. Upon arrival a representative from our ground operator
will meet you at the gate and will provide you with a welcome kit on Costa Rica.
Transfer to your city hotel, for your first night in Costa Rica.
Your evening is free to just relax or to enjoy San Jose`s restaurants, casinos, and active night life.
Overnight at Britannia Hotel, Deluxe rooms, breakfast included.
Early morning pick up for the drive through the Braulio Carrillo National Park to the canals lining the Atlantic Coast, where the three-hour boat trip to Tortuguero starts.
A typical breakfast is served on the way. Tortuguero National Park preserves 21.000 hectares of tropical rain forest.
Arrive at the lodge for lunch. The lodge will then schedule a tour to the village in the afternoon. This tour will provide detailed information on its history, culture and work in favor of conservation of the sea turtles and the flora and fauna in general.
A visit to the Sea Museum of the “Caribbean Conservation Corporation” is also included.
Overnight at Mawamba Jungle Lodge, standard rooms, meals are included.
After breakfast guests will enjoy the boat tours along the canals of Tortuguero.
Visit the canals within the National park to discover a large variety of birds and receive
detailed information on the flora and fauna of the area.
Return to the lodge for lunch. Afterwards take an optional hiking trip to the Hill of Tortuguero. It provides impressive views on the whole valley of Tortuguero and from the trail it is easy to discover its different species of inhabitants among which are three different kinds of monkeys, sloths, caimans, turtles, iguanas, poison arrow frogs and many birds and insects including the blue butterfly (Morpho peleides).
Overnight at Mawamba Jungle Lodge, standard rooms, meals are included.
After breakfast, return by boat to the dock near Limon.
There is a stop for lunch half way back to San Jose. Afterwards, you will be picked up by one representative of Costa Rican Trails and transferred to Arenal area. Upon hotel arrival the rest of the day is at your leisure. Approx. Driving time: 2.5 hours.
Arenal
One of the most active volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica. But by no means these are not the only attractions of this area. Bass fishing, windsurfing, hot springs, waterfalls, hiking and Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge make this an ideal stop for many travelers.

Today you will enjoy of a hike to the Arenal Volcano or Arenal Reserve
Our Arenal Volcano hike through the rainforest is one of the best ways to experience the mighty "Mountain of Fire." Hike through the diverse flora and fauna to the famous lava wall where you will walk on lava rocks from ancient times and observe lava boulders tumbling down the flanks of Arenal. You could get the chance to see the glowing cinders from the crater and hear the booms from gas eruptions as your professional guide educates you on the activity and history of the marvelous volcano.Includes: Round trip transportation from hotel, bilingual guide, entrance fee to Arenal Volcano National Park, refreshments, water & cookies.Duration: Half day

This service, half way by minivan, half way by boat, is an scenic ride through the Arenal Lake. Is the fast and newest way to go or come from La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano Area), to the Monteverde area.
Arenal Lake is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is also a place where you can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Sometimes mammals can be seen in the surroundings, also great views of the Arenal Volcano when it’s clear.
Duration: 3 1 / 2 hours aprox.
Includes: microbus & boat transportation and snack at the boat.
Monteverde
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests in the New World and home to the resplendent Quetzal and the rare bell bird. Monteverde is not only interesting for the Cloud Forest Reserve’s inhabitants, but also for its founders, the Quakers.
The next morning you will set out to discover the secrets of the misty forest with its dense vegetation and majestic trees.

Today you will do the following activities:
Am (Cloudforest and Coffee Retreat)
Explore the Santa Elena Reserve & then an informative coffee tour.
Includes: transport, reserve & tour entrance, bilingual naturalist guide and lunch.
Duration: Half day
Pm: Enjoy the afternoon at Selvatura Park, doing the tree top walkways and canopy tour.
These Tree Top Walkways are the best system of suspension bridges that exist in Costa Rica. The bridge system is located along a 1 .7 mile trail designed to be walked by people of all ages and consists of 8 suspension bridges going 90% through primary cloud forest.
The canopy tour is for people over 4 years old in which you traverse through cables and zip lines through the Cloud Forest. The Canopy Tour consists of 15 cables and 18 platforms and takes approximately 2.5 or 3 hours. In this tour our visitors will be zipped through each of the cables while attached to a top safety harness and using the best climbing gear available.

Return to San Jose after breakfast. The rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore San Jose shopping, restaurants or nightlife.
