Playa Blanca (White Beach) is located 25 kilometers from the city of Liberia and is between two points of the southwest end of the Gulf of Papagayo. As its name indicates, it is a white-sand beach with gentle waves. It is 1km long and from there you can enjoy the view to Monte Barco Beach and Panama Beach.
The beaches are drenched in sunshine, this being one of their most valued attractions. The sun shines between 11-12 hours a day during the dry season (December-April), heating the coastal system with an average maximum temperature of 36°C during March and April, and an average annual temperature of 27.7°C with rainfall around 1800 mm, but lasing only a short time. This gives way to an exhausting drought where stretches of tawny terrain alternate with grassland and stands of mayflower, wild cotton, swollen-thorn acacia and some cacti.
