In the Atlantic region of Costa Rica there is a protected zone of incomparable beauty known as Pacuare. This protected range begins near the town of Siquirres and descends down the Talamanca mountain range, covering nearly 10,000 hectares (25,000 acres) of virgin rainforest. High annual rainfall, along with its proximity to the lowlands, combines to nurture the Pacuares complex life systems into an area of extraordinary beauty. The Pacuare River is considered by many to be the most scenic class III/IV white water rapids in the world. Your ride on this river will be filled with stunning natural beauty and exciting rapids. After an early-morning pick-up at your San José hotel a transport will take you to the river put-in, stopping for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast en route. Once in the water, you will experience the exhilaration of riding the waves on this wild and scenic river, coursing through a wilderness of dense vegetation and steep gorges. After approximately 1 1/2 hours of river rafting, the secluded Pacuare Lodge will come into view and you will be escorted to your comfortable jungle bungalow, complete with showers, comfortable beds and clean linens.
