What is the tour like ?
The tour consists of observation platforms mounted in the trees with horizontal traverse cables between each. There are vertical descents. Guides help participants move from platform to platform using high angle equipment and techniques. Participants need no previous experience.

Preparation for the Tour :
Apply insect repellant before putting your cloth on. While you have the equipment on, you may not smoke or apply insect repellant. Intoxicated persons cannot participate. Bring a small package you can firmly attach to yourself and that leaves you both hands free during the tour. There are no secure facilities to store belongings and you must carry all your belongings during the entire tour. Dropped or lost items cannot be recovered !!

Closed-toe shoes are recommended however strap-on sandals are acceptable. Bare feet are not permitted. People in their 80's and 90's have participated but this tour is not recommended for people with heart trouble, seizure disorders, problems with balance or vertigo. You should be able to: Walk 15 minutes uphill and steps, have sufficient strength and mobility to climb a 20 foot ladder, straight up, Fit in the harness and helmet in a safe manner as determined by the head guide. A general guideline is about 100 kilos (220 pounds) but it is actually a function of body shape and size, not weight.

What if I'm afraid of heights :
Fear of heights is normal and most participants have some anxiety at the beginning of the tour. Some people find the whole tour a bit scary, but everybody finds it rewarding and is glad to have experienced it. The guides are specially trained to help you both physically and emotionally through the tour. They never push, but if you have the desire and courage the first step, they will support you all the way.

Minimum mental requirements : Desire to experience the wonders of the forest. Courage and faith to trust the equipment and guides. Ability to stand on a small platform 3' x 4 ' (1 x 1.2m) 5 stories up, without hyperventilating, vomiting or fainting. Ability to understand directions and follow safety rules.

Can children do the tour ?
Certainly, children age 5 and up may participate. A parent or guardian must accompany youngsters up to age 12. Children less than 4 feet tall will ride with a guide. There is no childcare available.

How safe is it ? Three part safety policy !

1.) Use top-quality equipment and materials by reputable, well-established manufacturers. All appropriate safety equipment is used. Maintain a rigorous and documented inspection and maintenance program. Follow all manufacturers recommendations for use, care and retirement of equipment. Only qualified personnel handle equipment.

2.) Use of internationally recognized high-angle techniques. All participants and guides are connected to the safety system at all times when 2 meters of more above the ground. Locking karabiners are used for safety applications and are locked while in use as such. Standard high-angle communication techniques are used. Participants are under the care and control of qualified personnel at all times. First Aid Kit is carried on all tours.

3.) Use of professional and dedicated personnel. Guides receive 200 hours of formal training followed by a 50-hour apprentice period under the supervision of qualified personnel. Guides are prohibited from performing their duties at height if unfit due, but not limited to, exhaustion, illness or injury, alcohol or drug use. Random drug testing is used. Anyone using non-prescription drugs will be fired. Bilingual guides or translators are used to explain safety rules and procedures.

In spite of all that !

In spite of all that we do to insure your safety naturally in each activity such as this we cannot predict nor completely eliminate all the potential risks. During normal Tour operations participants may receive minor injuries such as cuts and bruises, muscle strains, small friction burns and insect bites. Although serious accidents are highly unlikely, there is the potential for life-threatening injury on the Tour and all participants must sign a waiver and are at their own risk and responsibility. We have a Civil Responsibility Insurance policy and a separate medical coverage that surpasses government regulations.

Will I see wildlife ?

That, of course, depends on the wildlife. The sharp-eyed observer may spot countless species of flora and fauna from the Tour elements.

How does the tour impact the environment ?

Naturally an activity such as this has an impact on the ecosystem in which it is located, however great care is taken to minimize that impact. Small Tours and confine activities to limited areas. Minimize trail construction to reduce erosion. Take nothing but pictures leave few footprints. Use specialized construction techniques to protect trees and natural features. We never put nails in trees. Move vegetation rather than cutting. Handling wildlife is prohibited.

Can you watch the tour ? ?

There is no place from where you can observe the tour. Those who do not participate have to wait in the reception area.
