Black Marlin is caught year round with the the best months between May and August. <br><br> FISHING AT OCOTAL GULF OF PAPAGAYO in Guanacaste <br> For blue marlin, the Gulf of Papagayo in Guanacaste waters is considered some of the best fishing in the world. December, January, February, March and April are the best months. The rare striped marlin is spotted once in awhile and caught in these waters. <br> The fertile fishing grounds of the Gulf of Papagayo in Guanacaste has more than 25 varieties of sport fish and an anglers delight. Best time is April through September, and these Papagayo waters produce great marling catches for many months of the year. <br> Sailfish are caught all the year round averaging 1 to 2 sails caught per day from October through March. Boat crews will assist you with light tackle. Fly fishermen will love the challenge of 100 pound sailfish. <br> There are billfish, one of the most prized prey for the sport fishermen. Try your hand at roosterfish. More trophy roosters are taken from waters around Guanacaste than any other place in the world. Fished for with live bait, 40 to 60 pound roosters can be caught at anytime. <br> You can fish for Marlin (blue,black and stripped), Mahi Mahi, Pacific Mackerel, Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, Rooster Fish, Amber Jack and many other species. <br><br> OUR SPORTFISHING BOATS - FISHING FLEET <br> We us 32 foot sport fishing boats. Each boat is equipped with a flying bridge, shaded top, sufficient fighting chairs, head, standard diesel inboard engines, outriggers and downriggers. We have an array of 20 to 80 pound Penn International trolling rods and reels. They cruise at 20 knots. This is important as it is a 1 hour run to either of the two most important fishing grounds off bat islands or off the Guanacaste / Papagayo shore. <br> Our crews are experienced and professional. We us locals who are loaded with a lifetime of knowledge and they take us to the good fishing spots. All captains are bi-lingual in English. <br><br> FISHING SPECIES <br> SAILFISH: Sailfish are available from April to September. Most sailffish are from the 90 LBS. to 110 LBS range. <br> BLACK MARLIN are availabel from April to August. Black Marlin are from 300 LBS. to 400 LBS. range, occasionally one over 700 LBS to tell your friends about! <br> BLUE AND STRIPPED MARLIN are available to be caught from December to March. Blue marlin run from 200 LBS. to 300 LBS. with some to over 500 LBS. Stripped ones are usually 120 TO 175 LBS. <br> ROOSTERFISH are Caught all year round. Trophy size fish are from 30 LBS. to 50 LBS with many 60 LBS. to 80 LBS. fish. <br> MAHI MAHI OR DORADO are most abundant in the Spring to late Fall. These fish go from from 5 LBS. TO 50 LBS. <br> YELLOWFIN TUNA - A great eating fish! Yellowfin run thru november. Tuna most commonly are between the 10 to 20 lbs range with the larger 50 lbs to 150 pounders occasionally caught off shore for a great catch in deep sea fishing. <br> CUBERA SNAPPER, AMBERJACK can be fished all year round. <br> CHECK OUT OUR GREAT FISHING PACKAGES which include a standard room, but upgrades are available.
