THE LAST FRONTIER SURFING TRIP
If you are looking for a remote excursion then this is the package for you!
On this journey you'll be visiting both Matapalo, situated around the Osa Peninsula on the South Pacific ocean, you will also have the opportunity to get to Pavones, one of Costa Rica's most famous surf breaks offering one of the world's longest lefts which, on a good day, can connect for 2 - 3 minute rides.
This trip is what it means to get away from it all!
Day 1 : Arrival to San José
Private transportation will be provided from the Juan Santamaría International Airport to your hotel in San José for this night.
Night at Holiday Inn Express, 1 standard room
Day 2 : San José – Puerto Jiménez
Transfer will be provided to San José local airport to take domestic flight to Puerto Jiménez. At arrival, a Mitsubishi Montero 4x4 car rental will be delivered to you. Drive to Cabo Matapalo. Duration 45 minutes
Arrive to Encanta La Vida lodge, your hotel for the following nights.
Matapalo offers three excellent point breaks that will make any surfer unpack and stay awhile:
Playa Matapalo: Excellent right point. Bigger than any other break in the area but also rockier. On normal conditions waves are up to 7 feet.
Back Wash: Excellent right, breaks when Matapalo is big. Best at low tide. Nice beach break at low tide with a fast and steep wave. On normal conditions it is very safe but big swells get up to 10 feet.
Pan Dulce: Point break with a right. On a normal swell, the inside break is a small nice wave to learn how to surf. On the outside break you can find the point break and with big swell you can surf it all the way to the shore. Almost one and a half minute surfing the same wave.
Night at Encanta La Vida standard room (B)
Day 3-4 : Puerto Jiménez
Days to surf! You could request at the lodge a 40 minute boat ride to Pavones (extra cost).
Pavones boasts one of the longest left point breaks in the world accessible to the dedicated surfer. This area will also be a great opportunity for bird watching, hiking, horseback riding and fishing trips!
