PENINSULA DE OSA

Reaching out into the Pacific Ocean along the southwestern coast, the Osa was described by National Geographic as one of the most biologically intense places on earth. Encompassing Corcovado National Park and Caño Island, two of Costa Rica's most prized protected areas, the Osa Peninsula is a priceless natural treasure with an abundance of tropical plants, mammals, insects and over 350 species of birds. This marine resort is ideal for spirited trekkers who want to learn and explore the wonders of nature by hiking on one of Costa Rica's most beautiful national parks, Corcovado National Park and get involved in activities such as bird watching, horseback riding, snorkeling or scuba diving.

Day 1 : San Jose - Osa Peninsula

Early morning pick up at any San Jose hotel and transfer to the airport for a domestic flight south to Palmar Sur. There, your client proceeds by local taxi for 20 minutes drive to Sierpe where a boat trip starts down the Sierpe River to the Drake Bay area (approx. 2 hours). Wet landing at Casa Corcovado!!

Day 2 : Corcovado National Park

Day trip to Corcovado National Park. This National Park has a great range of biological diversity and has attracted the attention of tropical ecologists who wish to study the intricate workings of the rain forest. It is home to more than 400 species of birds and more than a hundred species of amphibians and mammals, including monkeys, scarlet macaws, coatimundis and other wildlife. According to National Geographic, this region of Costa Rica is “the most biologically intense place on earth”.

Day 3 : Caño Island

Day trip by boat to Cano Island Reserve. Time to relax and swim, or hike through the island. This 300 ha island is known for its Indian cemetery and also known for its coral reefs and a variety of marine life. Even ponderous Humpback Whales can often be seen breaking the surface of the water in their season of migration (December and January).

Day 4 : Osa Peninsula - San Jose

After breakfast, transfer by boat and taxi to Palmar Sur and flight back to San Jose. (B)
