Typical Costa Rican Crafts and Painings !! Jade y Oro is a cozy and lavishly decorated Spanish-style building originally built as a private residence; it has since been beautifully restored and comfortably furnished as a small hotel. Built in l941, the house retains its original structure and design, with its high ceilings, inner archways, chimney and original Portuguese tile floors and bright tropical flowers. The house was redecorated by the daughter of its original owner, Amalia Jimenez Volio, an artist who grew up in the house. Jimenez-Volio added a cheerful tropical touch to the house's colonial sobriety, filling its inner courtyards with colorful, modern furniture, typical Costa Rican crafts and paintings of her own, featuring mostly tropical flower motifs. Also she painted a colorful ecological mural separating it from the property next door that makes it easy to find.
