The Turrialba Region is at the cross-roads of the South-Pacific, the Central Valley and the Atlantic Coasts. The enormous difference in altitude within a small area and the high rainfall make it one of the richest regions of Costa Rica in plants and birds. At Guayabo Lodge we can offer you plenty of very different sightseeing trips and active tours according to your liking. We can organize them for you, or you can do most on your own. Here are some options you might want to consider: Rafting, Canyoning Hiking, Guayabo National Park, Bird Watching, Plantation Tour - Production & processing of organic sugarcane, coffee & macadamia, Coffee Production & processing tour, the botanical collections at CATIE (1/2 day or day tour), Aquiares church and waterfall tour, the Turrialba Volcano, the Irazú Volcano, Los Angeles Cathedral (do this on your way to something else), Lankester Botanical Gardens and Orosí Valley.
The cuisine at the Lodge is extraordinary, prepared only with the freshest locally-produced fruits, vegetables and cheese. Each morning juices are squeezed from a variety of fresh fruits and bread is purchased from the local panaderia. World-renowned Costa Rican coffee is served. A memorable "muy rico" completely homemade dinner will be prepared for you if you desire, or you may drive to one of many nearby quaint restaurants serving savory local dishes.
