All the bedrooms offer large glass windows, some 6 meters wide, give you the impression of sleeping in the forest itself, under the brightest stars. All Standard rooms have queen-sized beds, goose-feather duvets, heating, mini bar, coffeemaker, Satellite TV, Jacuzzi, hairdryer and safe deposit box.
Standard bungalow
Every bungalow consists of one or two bedrooms with private bathroom and a terrace. The four-person bungalows have a living room with a fully equipped kitchen. All the rooms offer a spectacular view of the valley with its cloud forest covered mountains. A walking trail system provides access to the nearby nine hectare private cloud forest reserve; some bungalows are only 50 meters away, others are inside the forest.

Suite
The Suite is larger and has additional to the standard rooms a fireplace, a sunken Jacuzzi with two large windows and a private forest garden with its own trail. Breakfast will be served in the Suite, on its terrace or in your little private forest garden.

We provide breakfast à la carte, which is included in our rates, from 7 A.M. onwards in our light-filled dining room or in the early morning sun on the terrace. Lunch can also be consumed at our restaurant. For dinner there is a typical Costa Rican restaurant with very good local food just 500 meters up the road. It is possible to order dinner to be served at your own bungalow.

The surrounding area boasts a variety of excursions including Canopy Tours, which will fly you through the forest treetops, Horseback riding and rainbow trout fishing. There are also excursions to the Cerro De la Muerte forest and to the Tapanti National Park, which is a cloud forest reserve teeming with birds.

The Dantica Lodge sits on nine acres of private cloud forest and trails that will take you through primary forest, alongside a crystal clear mountain stream that is perfect for bird and animal spotting. Enjoy a fresh breakfast and lunch in the gallery restaurants outdoor terrace. The restaurant serves typical food and fresh caught trout. The terrace is also a great place to laze in the comfortable beach chairs pointed towards the bird and hummingbird feeders. For complete and divine relaxation, take advantage of the in-room massage service by the professional therapist.

How to Get There:

San Gerardo de Dota, Cartago
From San José take the highway to Cartago. Just a few kilometers before reaching Cartago there is a sign: San Isidro and Paso Canoas. Here you must not follow the highway into the center but turn right. You are now on the Pan-American Highway, Route 2. After about 30 kilometers you reach the last gasoline station at El Empalme, another 30 kilometers and turn right at Kilometer 80 to San Gerardo de Dota. The altitude is 3.100 meters and you take the dirt road (partly asphalted) for 4 kilometers downhill until you see the lodges at your right hand site.
