"Great Place!" A TripAdvisor Member, NY, NY TRIPADVISOR.COM JULY 2006 My experience with this property took place in: July, 2006 Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? absolutely! I recommend this hotel for: An amazing honeymoon, A romantic getaway, Girlfriend getaway, Older travelers, Tourists Ama Tierra was fabulous, and we hope to return there someday. My wife and I went for our honeymoon, and Bob and Jill and their staff are terrific, from end to end. We were in Costa Rica for 10 days, and having our visit to Ama Tierra was a perfect middle segment -- as our Spanish skills still need some work, it was great to have Bob and Jill to speak in full detail about our trip and plans. Plus, they are just pleasant people. THE FOOD THERE WAS AMAZING. Jill is very health/ organic conscious, and the food was fresher there than most food we've eaten here in the states (we're NY restaurant people). The friendly service was top-notch, and Turu Bari National Park (canopy tours were awesome) is an up and coming Park. All in all, thumbs way up for Ama Tierra! |
DIRECTIONS: AmaTierra, Costa Rica From San Jose or Juan Santamaria Airport, take the road to Ciudad Colon. Once you're in Ciudad Colon, look out for sign saying "no hay paso" that means you're going on to a one way street. Instead turn right at the gas station and left at the next street. Continue on, and follow the signs for Santiago de Puriscal and for Turubares. When you get to Puriscal, (aabout 20 min.) take the road leading to San Pablo de Turubares. The hotel is located 19 kilometers after you exit Puriscal on the main road, on your right hand side, two kilometers before you reach San Pablo de Turubares. Follow signs to TURU BA RI Park. It is easy to find and the road is paved the entire way - simply look for the long bamboo fence and wooden gate. If the gate is closed, just honk and the guard will open the gate. NOTE: Consult this map when reading directions. From the Pacific Coast or North - look in your map for a city called Orotina, west of San Jose. From Orotina, ignore signs for "Jaco" and take the road straight, leading to San Pablo de Turubares (known simply as "San Pablo" or "Turubares"). You can also follow signs to "Turubari" which is a park on the way to the hotel. About five minutes from Orotina, on the road to Turubares, you will cross a suspended bridge (don't worry, the bridge is safe). Continue on that road for about 25 to 30 minutes, past Turubari Park until you come to a T intersection. See our sign, and TURN LEFT there. Go 5KM to San Pablo, follow another sign and TURN RIGHT. Go 2KM more and see the hotel on your left hand side. It is easy to find - simply look for the long bamboo and living tree fence and wooden gate. If the gate is closed simply honk, and the guard will open the gate. On your way from Orotina, always stay on the main road, and when in doubt, look for small signs for "Turubari" or the hotel. Either way, when you pass Turubari Park you are about 15 minutes from the hotel. Drive safely! |
