Music at Ama Tierra & Bob Ruttenberg's Vision

Bob's Vision:

Bob Ruttenberg talks about his vision for a music festival in Costa RicaOwner Bob Ruttenberg has been in the music business since the day he returned from the Woodstock music festival in 1969. One of Bob's life dreams is to produce a music festival here in Costa Rica, and it looks like that will happen in early 2010. The 2-day affair will bring together jazz artists, world music, blues performers, Reggae and some excellent Costa Rican bands. People from all over the world will come to Costa Rica, see this beautiful country and help environmental efforts, which the concert will benefit.

In addition, Bob is working with San Jose's top jazz club, the Jazz Café, to bring artists from the U.S. to play in Costa Rica. Some artists will bring students to AmaTierra to host "music clinics" here. AmaTierra is intimate, comfortable and secluded enough so that a good time can be had by all when a group of eclectic musicians get together to jam.Bob Ruttenberg standing beside a musical concert poster

On a daily basis, Bob continues to turn people on to good music which he's been doing for 40 years. You'll hear traditional central American music and salsa, mixed with avant-garde jazz like John Coltrane and Miles Davis. Some of the best new-age (Gemini Sun, for one) and world music (Putamayo and Real World Music) will soon be available in AmaTierra's gift shop, as will favorite Costa Rican artists on Papaya Music such as Manuel Obregon and Malpais.

Guests can expect great music when they come to AmaTierra. An occasional surprise musician / singer.
