Ama Tierra features Casitas built on a mountainside with Private Suites
Feel at home cradled by nature amidst the mango trees and sounds of the living forest in your simple, elegant suite. Allow yourself to truly relax in the comfort and peace of the mountains that Costa Rica is famous for.

Tastefully designed with unique decor to allow you to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings, each Suite comes with its own Jacuzzi tub, private terrace and garden with outdoor seating. Hardwood furniture and a ceiling made of teak brings the ambience of the forest into your room.

The sleeping area has a comfy queen-sized bed, and an additional double bed can be arranged in the living room if needed. Ceiling fans, a refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, phone, complementary snacks and TV/DVD player (choose a movie, free, from over 250 in our collection) make your stay even more inviting.

Settle in to a cool evening with a bottle of Chilean Cabernet and watch the sunset from your private terrace. In the morning, awaken to the sounds of nature. Take a walk to the stream or hike to where you can see the Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. Meditation is an extra special experience here in Costa Rica.

At Ama Tierra, guests can enjoy some of the freshest foods in all of Costa Rica. Our Cuisine is International, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, organic whenever possible, and some home-grown in our organic garden.

A "Typical" breakfast:
Fresh fruits or freshly squeezed fruit juices
Traditional rice & bean "Gallo pinto"
Eggs any style
Fresh whole grain breads or muffins served with mashed avocado, cheeses, butter and jam
Baked Plantain
Organic Coffee or choose from a variety of black, green or herbal teas

Our local cooks serve up delicious dishes made with fresh fish (mahi-mahi, tilapia, shrimp and corvina, or sea bass are commonly offered), chicken dishes (orange/mango chicken with coriander, served with brown and wild rice is one favorite) or occasional red meat dishes ("typical" picadillo made with green papaya and pork, or Iraqi meatballs in a delectable sweet and tangy sauce). We accommodate vegetarian diets with such dishes as Spinach Risotto and Vegetarian Thai Curry over rice.

As our goal is healthful, enjoyable dining, you will feel good about Ama Tierra's attention to freshness and wholesome ingredients. A beautiful salad is part of every dinner. We use only healthful oils, real butter and local honey, often substituting honey or "dulce" (minimally processed sugar cane, for white sugar.) Desserts are homemade and generally light, though we accommodate your love for chocolate!

Location:

San Pablo

How to Get There:

Ama Tierra, Costa Rica
From San Jose or Juan Santamaria Airport, take the road to Ciudad Colon. Once you're in Ciudad Colon, look out for sign saying "no hay paso" that means you're going on to a one way street. Instead turn right at the gas station and left at the next street. Continue on, and follow the signs for Santiago de Puriscal and for Turubares. When you get to Puriscal, (aabout 20 min.) take the road leading to San Pablo de Turubares. The hotel is located 19 kilometers after you exit Puriscal on the main road, on your right hand side, two kilometers before you reach San Pablo de Turubares. Follow signs to TURU BA RI Park. It is easy to find and the road is paved the entire way - simply look for the long bamboo fence and wooden gate. If the gate is closed, just honk and the guard will open the gate.
