How to Get There:

Mal País, Puntarenas
To drive to Malpais from the Juan Santamaría International Airport or San Jose, take the Inter American Highway towards Puntarenas. The distance from San Jose to Puntarenas is about 70 miles (110 km). In Puntarenas you will take the car ferry that goes to Paquera across the Golfo (Gulf) de Nicoya. The ferry departs every 2 hours. Once you are on the road again you will drive around the peninsula to Playa Santa Teresa for approximately 1.5 hours passing the towns of Paquera and Cóbano (In Cóbano you will find the last gas station, make sure to fill up. You will also find an ATM here.) until you get to Santa Teresa. You will reach the beach at a place known as Playa Carmen or "T" Street. If you take a left you will go to Mal Pais and to the right you go to Playa Santa Teresa. Hotel Flor Blanca is located 2 miles (4 kilometers) north or "right" from "T" Street.

    Our seven one bedroom and three two bedroom deluxe and superior villas are nestled into the jungle and designed with a quiet elegance that highlights local arts and crafts. Each individual villa offers privacy while peaking out through the colorful tropical vegetation. The villas are very open air, but the bedrooms will surrender to even the most timid of travelers with first class bedding, temperature control A/C. or optional fresh air living. The bathrooms are Balinese with open air showers, sunken tubs and gardens. Colors are earth tones and soothing; the entire resort sinks into the gardens and sea.
