Caribbean Atlantic Coast Puerto Viejo Limón and Cocles Beach
|
Our revisit to La Costa del Papito found the grounds to be decorative and well kept up. The cabinas were very clean and well maintained, not necessarily an easy task for being all wood and close to the ocean. The staff was very friendly, and for the Spanish speaking challenged tourist, it was a suprise to see many workers speaking at least some English, with the front desk personel totally bilingual. While taking pictures of a racoon in a shallow box, a worker approached, smiled and explained that he dips the box into the river, trapping the langostas, river shrimp, and then feeds them to the racoon. The racoon had to work for his meal to catch the moving and jumping shrimp!

One thing that impressed us was the ubiquitous use of local artwork throughout the cabins and common areas. It really added to the personality and caribbean feel of the grounds.

Lamp shades of different designs, shells and coconuts added to the flavor, while outside, a representation of a life sized turtle laying eggs on a beach adorned a garden area.

And this, my favorite, a Rastafian with feathers for hair, sitting on the suggested tours table!
