Lake Arenal

How to Get There:

Take the Inter American Highway North, which passes through the International Airport, towards San Ramon, approximately 35 miles (56 km). Once, arriving San Ramon, you will see a blue sign, indicating the way to the La Fortuna. Drive straight through the downtown San Ramón, until you reach a dead end. Turn left and drive 2 blocks forwards the San Ramon Hospital, then turn right onto the road to La Fortuna. You will see two signs for La Fortuna while driving through San Ramon, as well as other signs for the Arenal Volcano. Follow the signs to La Fortuna and Arenal. It will take you through a number of small towns, including Los Angeles, Balsa, Bajo Rodriguez, where there is voluntary toll. At the toll booth you will see a 45 km sign to La Fortuna. Keep driving through the towns of La Tigra, San Isidro and Chachagua until you reach La Fortuna. This section is a 50 mile (80 km) drive and should take about 75 to 90 minutes. The hotel is situated 3/4 of a mile (1 km) before la Fortuna Catholic Church.
