This region consists primarly of San José city and Alajuela, Atenas, Cariari, Cartago, Escazú, Heredia, Grecia, La Garita, La Sabana, Los Yoses Naranjo, Orotina, Orosi, San Pedro, San Ramón, Santa Ana, Sarapiquí River, Turrialba and Tibás, to name a few. In all of these locations there are an abundance of places to stay, restaurants to dine in and, of course, tourist attractions galore.
In some of the outlaying areas there are wonderful day spas which offer a chance to get away to a location just an hour from the downtown. There are hotels and restaurants in the hills, overlooking the valley, in both Alajuela and Heredia that are stunning, with hotels that make you feel like you are a million miles from any civic center.
The Central Valley definitely has what any business traveler is looking for and transportation around the city is extremely affordable. The night life and dining experiences are world class. Gambling is legal in Costa Rica, so many of even the more modest hotels offer the vacationers a Casino to visit while they are staying in the city.
