By
Colin & Sumy Darnel
March - April 2001

Ecoscape Nature Tours offers one, and only one, excursion which is called The Highlights Tour. On this one-day adventure you have breakfast on a coffee plantation, look into the crater of an active volcano, view two waterfalls, have coffee in a hummingbird gallery, walk through a primeval cloud forest, have lunch in a rain forest and take a jungle cruise on the Sarapiqui River all in one day.

Ecoscape Nature Tours offers one, and only one, excursion which is called The Highlights Tour. On this one-day adventure you have breakfast on a coffee plantation, look into the crater of an active volcano, view two waterfalls, have coffee in a hummingbird gallery, walk through a primeval cloud forest, have lunch in a rain forest and take a jungle cruise on the Sarapiqui River all in one day and, believe it or not, at a relaxing, unhurried pace with lots of time to take pictures and enjoy the company of fellow travelers.

Alfredo Valverde, being an experienced travel consultant and award winning tour guide, could see a need to provide an excursion for visitors who are only in the country for a short time, such as those ending or beginning a cruise in Costa Rica, and also to those who want to make the best use of their time and money. So, in 1993 he founded Ecoscape Nature Tours with the ideal of combining some of the country's most beautiful attractions into one all-inclusive eleven-hour trip.

In order to accomplish this, Alfredo has chosen two very different areas: the cool Central Highlands and the Tropical Caribbean Lowlands, in order to give the visitor a glimpse into the diversity of Costa Rica's climate and natural habitant. The company's philosophy of specializing shows in attention to detail to ensure that the guest not only sees some of the most breathtaking scenery in Costa Rica but also that his journey is comfortable and relaxing. Helpful, well-informed guides who share interesting information along the way and point out wildlife that visitors might other wise miss ensure that the day unfolds smoothly and not without a little welcome humour.

From the cool green coffee fields on the slopes of Poas volcano to the steamy jungle domain of the howler monkeys there is much to see and experience.
