Charles Lankaster was an English botanist who collected local flora, especially bromeliads and orchids, to protect various species. Today this collection can be admired at Lancaster Garden. There are over 800 species of orchids that flower all year long, but mainly during the dry season, from February to May. The garden is run by the School of Biology of the University of Costa Rica and is located in Cartago Province. It is open to the public from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
