Alajuela
It is located to the southwest of Poás Volcano and is very important for the protection of the drainage basins supplying water to agriculture and fisheries and for urban use in a wide area of the Central Western Valley. The primary forest covers 75% of the whole area. Within this reserve is the 40-hectare Bosque de los Niños, consisting of a plantation of trees planted by children. It is very important as a recreational area, besides being very beautiful, and accessible from Grecia along a mostly asphalted road.
