Playa Carmen is located 15 kms. south of the town of Cóbano. The shortest route is to take the Paquera Ferry from Puntarenas. To the northeast it joins with Playa Teresa, and to the south it stretches up to a rocky and irregular spot bordering the Playa Mal País. Its vegetation is typically littoral and its waves are good for surfing. In the central portion, which is wide, other seawater sports can be practiced.
