|Learn Spanish in Costa Rica|
The best way to learn Spanish is coming to Costa Rica !!
I must learn Spanish one of these days, Only for that slow sweet name’s sake. ~ The Flower’s Name, Robert Browning, 1812-1889The best way to learn Spanish is to take advantage of the many immersion courses offered at numerous language-study institutions around the country. On our first trip to Costa Rica we registered for a six-week course at the Forester Instituto Internacional in Los Yoses, located just a 20-minute walk from downtown San José.
Most schools offer two-week schedules, small groups, half- or full-day courses, plans with tour options, academic credit and area lodging. Economical homestays, with a Spanish-speaking local family, provide a golden opportunity to practice your classroom learning. Homestays usually include breakfast and dinner with the family – total immersion in the culture as well as the language.
We spent a half-day in class and used the other half to explore the countryside on our own, getting on buses and going where they went. At the end of our stay our educational results were mixed – one of us has a fairly good handle on the language, the other, hmmm – but in terms of getting to know Ticos and their country, we did very well!
